Mitch McNeel - Bass Guitar

Mitch McNeel

The band's bassist is truly the "player's player". Mitch's studies in bass include funk, rock, pop and a variety of other styles. His fusion of style creates a funky, high-energy groove that truly takes the band to next level. Mitch has over 25+ experience playing the bass. He has been in cover and original bands through out his career in music.

Mitch started playing music when he was around 9 years old. His first instrument was an acoustic guitar (6 string). He took lessons for about a year at the elementary school that he attended. When he was around 11 years old, his parents bought and signed him up for accordion lessons. He took lessons for 6 years, which 3 out of the 6 years he was an instructor to younger kids. When he turned 16 he, was influenced by a accordion band that included a bass player, picked up the bass guitar.

After being in and out of bands through out the years (25+), he gained many influences which range from "Iron Maiden" (Steve Harris) heavy fast bass lines to "RUSH" (Geddy Lee) progressive style. His first band that he played in, was an Iron Maiden cover band. He played in that band all through his high School years. After high school he join up with a couple of guys that were heavily into RUSH (hence the Rush influence). He played with them for a couple of years and ever since then has been playing to RUSH as a practice schedule.

Since moving to San Diego in '97, he had been out of the music scene for a good 2 - 3 years before hooking up with Jason Schmidt (guitarist) and Paul Goulart (drummer) in the band called "None Today" (Original music). He played with "None Today" at the local bars in San Diego for several years. After the long struggles (about 4 years) of trying to find the right vocal's (vocalist) and melody style, "None Today" finally called it quits.

Life after "None Today", met him with the next band "Sobak", which did not pan out (together for about 1 year). Since leaving "Sobak", he took another 2 years off from music, but has always had the passion to be back in a band.
